What is the M25 like on a Wednesday morning?

We're going on holiday next Wednesday. We need to be at Gatwick by 10:30am, my dad seems to reckon we'll need to leave at 7:30am which seems quite rediculous to me as we're only in Aldershot, which is only a 45 min drive with no traffic.

I have no experience with the M25 on a weekday morning, will it really be that bad?

The M25 statistically is a nightmare from 6am to 11pm so I would leave an hour and half to get to the airport, easier to sit and have a coffee in the airport then it is to miss your flight

Traffic can start early. I would rather wait a hour than miss my flight. I normally get there 2 -3 hours before my flight, after you checked in your bags, wonder around and had something to eat. It wont be long till you board the flight. :)

I think going to Gatwick you'll be fine in 'normal' morning M25 traffic. I'd leave at 9am you'll get to the A3 at Guildford and it'll be a little slow and then again at the M25 but the traffic should be calming down the later you get.

If it's one of those nightmare accident days and the M25 is gridlocked you could go, through Puttenham/Milford/Dunsfold/Horsham/Crawley which is slow and fiddly but would let you get there on time if you left at 8.30-8.45.

Flight isn't actually until 1, wanted to get there 2.5 hours early so we could have a nice strole around and have some lunch. Ok so I think maybe we'll leave at about 8, keep and eye on the traffic news and if the M25 is bad go the back way. Thanks guys :)
