AJI
In carrot tops defense, he did set a record for the amount spent on a car. That's some pretty big 'car world kudos' imo. I know, but...., even in Chris Evan's own words he only sees himself as a Ferrari enthusiast, not really a 'car' enthusiast (his main passion is Golf when it comes to an 'activity'). He's a collector rather than a 'driver' I think its fair to say. But foremost he is the guy for doing the likes of CH4's BigBreakfast & TFI Friday when it comes to TV, the type of live TV whereby you throw in lots of mostly unfunny silliness (personal opinion of course). I never saw Top Gear being that type of show or anything leaning towards it. But I guess we can wait and see how it turns out. I do wonder what Clarkson, Hammond and May have up their sleeves. I think there were rumours of something to do with NetFlix?
jamesmark
I would like to see Steve Coogan or Rowan Atkinson get one of the other roles. Obviously only in my humble opinion but I think those 2 would possibly ruin the rebirth of TG. I like Rowan and out of the 2 he would probably be good at it, Steve on the other hand is in my list of people that should never grace our TV's again. A bit like VBH. I like Evan's made breakfast radio worthwhile especially now snore Wogan has been moved to only Sunday's, however I will reserve judgement till the 1st series is over. adam1983
I think Jason Plato and Sabine would be good co presenters. Their opinions on how a car drives would be much more informative
Swampy442
Evans is carrying on with radio 2 as well, he;s going to be a busy man.
Sukhy
I'm not sure how to take this. Sure he has an interest in cars as a collector but does that warrant enough for him to present on a car show? I will watch it to see how it goes but if Clarkson, May and Hammond get onto another show as a team, this will crash and burn.
C12MMO
Well I'm looking forward to it I think Evans will be good on the show but I think Guy Martin and jason Plato would make a good co-hosts This would make for a great show. After Plato's appearance on TFI Friday alongside Evans he's surely got to be in the running for the job.
jamesmark
Co stars that could in theory work in my eyes Jason Plato Tiff Needell Sabine (although her cringe worthy presenting skills would eventually get on my nerves) Jodie kidd And a couple of out there's........ Jimmy Carr Boris Johnson (good replacement for James M)
berg
Maybe Clarkson will appear as the star in reasonably priced car I imagine the whole show will be completely changed, ill give it a go and see what its like, who knows they may make it even better
cered
I'll watch it but I'm not expecting greatness, Clarkson 'made' Top Gear. Going from him to Evans will be extremely jarring I think
Thorin
A lot of people mention Guy Martin, and I like him, but I really don't think he could pull off a presenter role (or would even want to, he's back fixing trucks in Grimsby right now). I've said it before, but I think Top Gear would be much better without Richard Porter writing the scripts. I don't know if he'll still be involved post Clarkson and the rest. Agree, Guy is trucks and bikes, which is pretty much everything TG was against, well would need to include caravans. The scripting writing was getting very painful over the last few years, so hopefully he has been "removed"
Al Massey
The main reason Topgear was great was because it wasn't just a car show. There are hundreds of car shows on TV now, and they all have their own fans but none stands out. Topgear and the trio who had an amazing connection and chemistry with each other made the show funny, it was entertainment. That's why we all watched it. Stupidly expensive fast cars, stupidly expensive trips around the world, stupid challenges and the trio being dicks to each other. That is what Topgear is. It became that and that is why we all watched it week in week out. Yes it got shit over the past few years, but you can pin that to when JC sold the rights to the BBC, it became scripted and boring in places. Now this new show shouldn't be called Topgear. Not because it's not the trio, but the fact they need to rebrand and change everything otherwise it will always be compared.

I can agree with that.... but do you think the BBC will think about doing things properly or will the do the easiest thing that they can (which will be new presenter with the exact same show and scripting)? Big Supes
I'll give it a go. I would love Steve Coogan thrown in there as well. Can't think of third presenter, but you can be sure the beeb will want a female so it leaves few choices.

The BBC would be stupid to keep it the same as it will get so much hate. And even though they know own the brand as it is now, they would need to change it. The whole show needs a revamp but it will never be the same I don't think

downimpact
I predict viewing figures will start high as it's a change and then dive bomb. All the comments by BBC producers etc seem to be we have a great program, doesn't matter how much we change it it'll remain a massive hit. I think they are overlooking how important the presenters were into making it so successful. Whoever they choose along with Evans have a massive hill to climb for credibility. Apparently Evans also said there would be a female co host as well according to the news.

I want JamieP to apply, he knows how to drive and as he's tall like Clarkson he'd look funny squashed inside tiny sports cars

BBC producers are deluded lol I don't think they realise that top gear was its cash camel and the fan base it had was mainly for the trio and not the actual show itself
