I just saw his tweet.

The TFI Friday the other night actually showed me I doubt he will be very good, to start at least. Maybe after he finds his feet he will be ok. I'll give him a chance.

I'd like to see Chris Harris get a co presenter job.

I think people won't miss the old trio when they realise it's the big budget that made it different to other car shows.

Not a huge surprise, his name was linked early on with the job.

Will I watch it? - Probably

Will it be as good as before? - Probably not

I just hope that they don't bring back Kate Humble! I'd like to see Sabine Schmitz or Susie Wolff as one of the presenters, for their driving skills obviously! ;) Susie is a local girl to Argyll and is a very talented driver.

No just me being daft; Germans pronounce every letter in a word so I spelt it as heard it which was wrong. Anyway having her as a presenter is a no-brainer if you ask me. When she was on the show Clarkson himself (jokingly) suggested her as a replacement for Hammond (watch this near the end).

That Chris Harris is a massive bore. Im happy with the ginger prince as one of the presenters, you have to remember that it probably wont be the same format as the previous one.

My only wish is they don't give god awful, former clothes horse Jodie Kidd a slot.

At least Mr Evans is a total petrol head - I'll reserve comment until after the first few shows, which we'll all watch because whoever presents it, it's about cars!

I'd stick Jason Plato on there somewhere and Jodie Kidd is also a massive petrol head so I wouldn't mind her on there too.

Personally I'm glad to see the back of that mediocre kids TV presenter Hammond who was just massively irritating.

I'm with you on that, the BBC is stacked full of upper class establishment twits..........

Big vote for Susie Wolff, Williams F1 test driver and down to earth babe.;)

I think it's got a fighting chance of being better than TG: The Clarkson Years. I'd put money on it not being a documentary, car-buyers'-guide style format like it was when Tiff Needell and Quentin Wilson were part of it. Despite this, many people will complain that it's not a documentary, car-buyers' type of programme.

There were several things wrong with recent TG. You only have to read the threads on here to realise that:

1: Sunday evening post at 7.50pm: "TG is on soon! Woop!"

2: Sunday evening post at 9.02pm: "That's 1 hour of my life I'll never get back"

Then go back to step 1 every week until the end of the series.

Chris Evans (or rather, the production team) has a golden chance to revamp and refresh. Pieces like Star in a Reasonably Priced Car were good to begin with, but became formulaic and boring. I suspect Clarkson would have got death threats on Twitter if he'd tinkered with the format.

I'm happy with Carrot Top, I think he'll do a good job.

I have to disagree with my learned friend, Swampy, I think Chris Harris would be awesome. He can drive, he can articulate and he's very passionate about cars. He could be the equivalent of The Stig.

For the third role, I'd like to see a real time-served journalist like Steve Sutcliffe. All have good senses of humour, all love cars. Two can drive and one is a presenter.

I have a feeling it just won't work with Evans. I don't think he has the car-world integrity required and is more suited as a silly live TV program host. Well unless that is the direction that Top Gear is taking for the future? (It has been heading there for a while).

Chris Harris, Jethro Bovingdon (from EVO magazine youtube programs), Sabine and/or Jodie Kidd would have given the program an edge IMO.

+1

He can certainly drive, but he comes across as pretentious and on Pistonheads he was always changing his opinions to match that of the readers. Not good journalism.

.

In carrot tops defense, he did set a record for the amount spent on a car. That's some pretty big 'car world kudos' imo.

Really dont like Chris Evans at all......... dont think he is car person! See below...

The show is not about the individuals, its about how they interacted with each other and the other 3 have had years to get it right. Look at the classic car show that Jodie Kidd does, its crap, because they dont interact very well.

So spending a fortune on a car and storing it in a sealed room gets kudos, interesting. If he drove that car on the road or track, then I would maybe agree. Car nuts come with all sorts of budgets and generally the ones at the top are not really car nuts, IMO.

Just waiting for the "next" announcement, that Clarkson is starting "house of cars"
