Slip Cont off flashing

Jellybean

Recommended Posts

She is a manual 6 speed , Slip Cont off flashes after some WOT , I have not yet done a quiet drive yet

The light will keep flashing very 2-3 secs

Car is just back on the road , there are no error codes, I did reset the ECU; in the morning when I start her she is fine until I do a WOT

Things done to the car

  1. Rear wheel Bearing
  2. Both rear Abs sensors disconnected and reconnected
  3. Rear diff rebuilt and installed
  4. Prop carrier bearing
  5. New Rear brake discs

Any idea's, recheck the ABS sensor connections?

If an ABS sensor was dead or shorted or disconnected you would have an ABS light showing.

Have you fiddled with the throttle body in any way?

Did not touch the throttle side, but it is my next point of call this morning, maybe something is loose

This only started to happen after I was able to give her a good spirited drive of the year

Could be an issue with a speed delimiter/speed converter (if you have one). The HKS literature for the type II and T6 both describe flashing of the TRC/slip control light when you go over the previously limited speed.

Thanks but no speed converter is required on mine , she has a sard analyse rom in the ecu so the delimiter would not be an issue

Just checked , throttle section all looks good, no loose cables/plugs

Could it be anything to do with how she detects slip, maybe the sensor dirty ,

Which solenoid is the trac?

If I did pull the fuse on the trac, would the light be constantly flashing , just for mot time, how do you get around it

I've still got this issue - flashing O/D off light and flashing TC light too - both been like that for a year now!

I have half BPU and no FCD etc. Current thinking is speed converter but nothing solid has ever come of this diagnosis, not been able to test the theory yet.

Yes, hitting boost cut will leave that code and put the TC light on. Is the FCD installed properly, assuming a stock ecu?

Sard Analyse ECU so boost cut is raised to 1.3 via a ROM chip , it was late and once the temp dropped she spiked to 1.3, had to dial back the duty cycle

I had a similar issue, trac ecu was stuffed. Replaced with a 2nd hand working one, perfect..

Just too coincidental for it to be stuffed after I just put it back on the road

Trac on it is crap, not too pushed if it is gone

when you take out the ECU or fuse for the Trac, will the light stay on constant I presume? not an MOT failure?

Yes thats the one

I have the slip cont off and o/d lights on mine

I have tried the following which has made no change

1. Tried the car with no speed converter/delimiter at all

2. re-soldered all wires for the above and triple checked against diagram

3. Tried a spare ODO

4. Replaced Throttle control ECU

5. checked resistance on the sub throttle control valve and sub TPS on the throttle body

6. Replaced both the fuse and relay for traction control

7. checked speed sensor

Mine has to be something to do with the valves on throttle body

Need a place near the midlands to sort it for me but yet to find anyone

I don't have an issue with the odo just the trac light, I reckon it keeps thinking its detecting slip and just gets confused, traction control never kicks in but seems to start constantly flashing after I pull off from gravel or put the foot , down ; even though there's no wheel slip, I think it just gets confused and doesn't know what to do

No engine codes , car is going like a train, no loose connections around the throttle body

Strange one, ecu might just be FUBAR but too co incidental , to have issues all of a sudden and it was working fine before

Hello mate. Did you ever managed to solve the slip control light on issue ?

Everything works as it should , my car is stock RZ TT6 facelift with only an exhaust , and after I start driving it for a while the TRAC SLIP CONTROL light flashes after 2-3 seconds continuesly till I turn of the car, same as yours , only difference yours is prefacelift mine is facelift.

I have this problem and plan, one day, to take the ECU covers off to see if there are any failed capacitors. Pending that day I have just disconnected the trac ECU which puts the light out. I have talked with tuners about having a new engine/trac ECU setup but they were all too busy to fit me in and the quotes started at £5k. Which makes disconnecting the cheap and no real issue option.

PS - When I checked last year this ECU was still available as a 'new' part at £1,200 + freight + VAT + duty. But that is probably a 20 year old new ECU anyway.
