37k miles? Looks like it's done 370k miles!

It's all documented, I made sure!

Nice update, mind if I ask how much the engine cost as a comparison to the 2jz-gte?

Will you also be going with the rest of the upgrades you had planned previously?

Due to the miles, warranty and delivery it was £3k for the new lump. Yeah ok planning on tidying up the covers and fitting all the new parts, then get it trailered and mapped proper!

I might keep the 2nd engine and just build it or strip it and sell it

Hope it all works out Alex, would be good to see it in one piece again (and moving :D)

Like wise for your car Steve! Hopefully won't be long, I'm on no rush tbh and if I miss Jae then I'll have to sadly

So an update from today's start of the rebuild, I got the car into the workshop and started taking more things off. I've never done this before on any car, so this is my first time removing an engine and build one back up!

Off with the lights and some pipe work/filters

Then the engine arrived just before I left the workshop for the night

I was by myself today doing all this, I should hopefully have an extra pair of hands tomorrow and have the lump out and start on tidying the bay and engine!

it might be a good idea to get the bore scope down that one to have a look before you put it in , it doesnt look the best or well looked after mate

I've seen the original car it came from and seen/heard it running, it's a perfectly good strong low mileage engine. There's nothing wrong with it what so ever, it just looks tatty due to a shitty diy paint job on the covers

Best of luck bud. I hope this goes well for you :)

Good. Chance to clean the engine bay when the engine is pulled out :)

Keep the old engine and build it to handle 1000Bhp

Yeah I'm planning giving the engine bay some TLC and sort the strut tops out along with some other imperfections!

I'm not gonna bother keeping the engine to build, won't have the car long enough to warrant it lol

Are you still looking at getting another Supra Alex and selling the GTR on when done?

Yeah Adam I will be, this time I'm not going to rush in and buy something I know down the line I'll want to sell. So just gonna keep at the gtr and keep watching the auctions/websites and see what I can find when back across in Japan in January :)

Had a productive afternoon today with the help of Michael (grasmt). That's the engine nearly ready to come out, just the mounts and gearbox to be unbolted from the engine then it's out!

We would of got ok the ramp tonight but a mini is still on it getting a new clutch put in.

Upon inspection of the intercooler it has seen better days and will be replaced, there is also signs of the turbo seals starting to go. Hopefully will get the car up on the ramp tomorrow and the engine finally dropped out so I can get cleaning and prepping the engine bay

  • 2 weeks later...

A quick update, due to being back to work last week and being ill this weekend, I never got the chance to get much done on the car. So I went up tonight and finally got the car up on the ramp now it's free!

I'm on early shift this week at work, so every night after work will be spent up at the garage finishing unbolting everything and finally dropping the engine ready to work on the bay!!

Jesus Alex, thought you would have had the donor engine in by now! God speed dude... The clock is ticking for JAE.

I'm using my mates garage, so can only get access to the ramp when it's free. He's the only one working there, so is trying to run a business at the same time and is constantly busy.

It's down for mapping next Monday, so will be ready for Jae
