abtin90
Was wondering where the best place was to shop for hard wood and laminate flooring in terms of price and value for money? Have gone to the regulars wickes, homebase etc as well as looking online at uk flooring direct and uk flooring depot, just wondered if anyone had any suggestions. wile e coyote
I'd not bother with laminate anymore, go for the engineered wooden floors so much nicer

Wasn't aware of engineered wooden floors so will have to look into it tonight when I get in.
dangerous brain
Laminate I just put down in my gaff is Holland is proper nice and came with a 20 year guarantee so should stand the test of time. Laminates are very good these days.
uzzyuzzy
I'd avoid both and just get tiles with underfloor heating.

That would be ideal, my parents house is all marble with underfloor heating as is lovely in the winter. However like I said I don't think my budget will stretch to underfloor heating. Kendo11
Forget laminate unless you're on a very tight budget. You can get decent engineered flooring these days for the price that laminate was a few years ago. If you can up your budget slightly, real wood isn't too expensive either. You'll be able to get underfloor heating much much cheaper than 3k, a lot depends on the existing composition of your floor but since underfloor heating has become pretty much the norm for a lot of new house builds it's pretty well priced. Wasn't aware of electric underfloor heating if I'm honest. The one my parents have uses gas pipes that were laid under the concrete, similar to what that have in large buildings. I'm guessing electric underfloor heating is expensive to run? I have electric heating in my 2 bedroom flat at the moment and during the winter months my bill was higher than that of my parents 5 bedroom house. I've stopped looking at laminate as I have found hardwood flooring on uk flooring direct for a very good price. I've got a budget of £3k for the ground floor and have found hard wood that'll fall into that price.
