Gaz Walker
Its called Google Adwords, and for locations like that isn't cheap. £1+ per click. And you get a lot of clicks Gaz.
Shovels
As far as I know it's google ad words - you basically pick a word and then bid for that word. If you are the highest bidder your address will appear at the top of Google. Every time someone clicks on your link you get charged your winning bid amount. I've never used it, but I know people who have and lets just say - it can get VERY expensive. You can set a cap. When that is reached your ad will vanish, until the next month/billing. A guy I know set his cap at £500 per week, and it was maxed out very quickly. Take my advice - build a good website using CSS technology, have lots of good information, good links, etc and your site will do well without having to shell out 1,000's on Google Adwords. CJ
And even £1 a click is not as expensive as some of the words. If you wanted "printing" that works out at about £20 per click!!!

A squid a click is massive Shovels cheers for the info dude - general consensus seems its a lot of money boohoo Yep Don't get me wrong you can get a lot of traffic but you need to be very specific with your search terms. I think we spent £250 a week at one point only paying 2p per click (the ones on the side). Regards, Gaz.

CJ
Bloody hell, you'd need a definite order to pay for that Gaz. Yep - mind you, if we ever find out our competitors are using a certain AdWord, we deliberately visit their sites many, many, many times
