bayside_supra
Hi everyone I have just had a brand new SSQV 4 fitted to the hard pipe attached to the throttle body. There was nothing wrong with my standard one but I was hoping one of these would sound better and allow me to play with how much boost would set it off. I was hoping to get a bit of turbo chatter at low boost and the dump valve to blow off above around 1 bar. The thing is the HKS dumps all the time, at any boost pressure. Is there any way of adjusting it or changing this? I know compressor stall is not meant to be good but it's the best noise a car can make, so I want mine to do it a little. Pics of it below. Lee P
You bought the wrong dump valve for that then The SSQV is twin valve and designed to let pressure out even at low boost. If you want compressor stall sound then you need a cone filter and no dump valve
bayside_supra
Got a cone filter. I can you not change the stiffness of the spring or something? I had an SSQV on my old MR2 years ago and it would only dump at high boost. I was hoping to get a bit of stall but not at high boost. No you can't adjust these ones

bayside_supra
Do you know of any that will be changeable using the flange I have used? So I can just take this one off and clip on a new one?

Yarco
Never heard of a dump value that doesn't make some noise even when dumping at low boost pressure?? I've just changed to HKS SSQV4 recently as I love the sound. However I had an Apexi one before which had a ring on it and that allowed you to adjust the overall sound level. berg
I dont think there are any other bov's that use the same mounting type as a ssqv valve As above though they dont have any springs and arent adjustable Just take it off and blank it, lots of people do it without any problems
bayside_supra
And how would I blank off the hole that's been made in the pipe? Maybe I should just get a new intercooler pipe. Does anyone know how to find out what intercooler I have fitted? It was done before I got the car and I can't see any brand names on it. Here are some pics which might help. The pipe does appear to be the same as the one on the right in this picture. Do most intercoolers have the same pipe work? Scott
The original HKS BOV is adjustable, V2 onwards has the dual valve design. If you can get an original you should get what you are after.
berg
Looking at your photos you still have the stock bov fitted on the turbo side Remove that and block the pipes and see if it makes the ssqv any different?
bayside_supra
The photos are of the engine bay before it was fitted. The stock one is now removed. I was attempting to help people work out the intercooler pipe I have. Can anyone help with that question?
