listy
I'm in the market for a new daily. My current daily is a 52 plate (2002) Mazda6. Now that we have moved closer to family, there is no need for something so big, so I'm looking at getting something a bit smaller. I haave a few things in mind: Toyota Gen 7 Celica (140 vvti) Toyota Corrolla (2002 onwards I think it is) Honda Civic (2002 onwards) My budget would be around £1500-£1750 using the Mazda as PX. I also want something I can have a little tinker with (wheels, lower etc) but nothing extravagant. Any thoughts/other ideas? I've had two Celicas in the past so I'm leaning towards that, but input would be appreciated.
Chris Bailey
Although the pre facelift Celica can have oil issues, if you pick one up with Full Toyota service history and its had regular engine oil and filter changes I think you'd be onto a winner. If you are patient you may find a facelift for your budget with higher mileage. Although people bash civics they can be great cars! Maybe have a look at a Honda Civic EP2 1.6. listy
That's the thing with celicas..I know them almost as well as I know Supras. There is something about civics that tickle my fancy though. I've just made way too many "vtec kicked in yo!" jokes to make it viable lol

Probably an EG/EK fully stripped out track car, 800-900KG with 200+bhp B16. Really good track car!
AlexJames
I have a Gen7 Celica as my daily.. great fun and not too expensive either!
Abz
This one is a no brainer. Toyota Gen 7 Celica (140 vvti)
cered
As mentioned, the oil issues put me off buying a Celica when I wanted a new car a few years ago. Civis (EP3 type generation) are very good, a friend of mine had a 1.6 SOHC 3door, looked smart, lots of room, excellent economy and the engine was pretty punchy. I'd go for the Honda. AlexJames
Mine is the version that has no oil issues Thankfully ... I def recommend the 190 over the 140 too!

I'm not after a saloon really. I did think of an IS but I think I'd prefer a celica over that.
gavin.starr
I have to corolla T sport with the 190hp engine in it and love it, But if you can get one in a Gen 7 that would be great as the handling is better as its on independant sespension at the rear rather than a sway bar type that mine has. listy
190's are out of my budget, otherwise it would be a no brainer. I've had both a 140 and 190 in the past. Definitely leaning towards a celica.
