Supra ST Myster
Hi, I have a CCTV system that is connected to someones router which is all configured for port forwarding ect.. so they can view the cameras on their phone, great.. But they have added a access point which is hardwired into the router so that they can extend the wifi to other areas of the property.. that all works but the trouble is as soon as that access point is connected to the router it is stopping the remote view of the CCTV system?? I can access the cctv system from the local IP address still so what could be effecting the external connection by adding this access point? Router is a bt hub and the access point is a asus router but configured for use as a access point only. ports that were forwarded is 80 8000 554 thanks. The-Plethora
Hmmm, is the access point still configured to dish out IP addresses via DHCP as well as the BT hub? could be a conflict.
Supra ST Myster
no dhcp is disabled so it can act as a access point, this is the router that has been added, http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/tp-link-td-w8980-dual-band-n600-wireless-adsl-router-n09nf I can access the system via a pc at home as just checked, but not through the mobile port. RobUK
What port is the Mobil using? Is the access point using the same port for its management interface?
RobUK
Which point is the AP being plugged into on the BT hub? Think one of those ports from memory is an optional external port which might create an issue
Supra ST Myster
the cctv port was 80, and 8000 for mobile, i have changed it to 90 and 9000, if i put in on the web the dyndns address with :90 at the end i can remote view.. i cant remember which one it is plugged into.. will check tomorrow... Supra ST Myster
its strange as when i enter info on the mobile app it knows when i can see the dvr remotely as it comes up with how many channels it is, but doesnt display camera, might be something to do with the mobile port? Supra ST Myster
ok will do tomorrow.. thanks
RobUK
The access point uses port 80 for management, but if you have setup the forwarding correctly it shouldn't make a difference
RobUK
When the AP is connected does the internet connection actually work? You mention you can access it locally but not remotely is this because its cutting off the internet?
Supra ST Myster
well i have logged into the dvr remotely via pc and can access the config page, changed port back to 80, and i dont need to put :90 at end of dyndns name.. so its just the mobile app thats the issue.. but as i say as soon as you unplug the access point it works again. RobUK
Id guess its an ip conflict, do you know the internal ip of the dvr and ap, plus anything else?
Supra ST Myster
ok, well this is interesting, cant view cameras live view on pc either, but what i can do is view cameras when i select playback from an earlier time, and this is the same on the mobile app... so its just the live view thats the problem
Supra ST Myster
may well be worth a shout to the manufactures of the dvr in that case as i know its communicating with the dvr from either the mobile or pc
