I basically said that there is no point in scammers putting a load of effort into making a scam look more convincing as the return on investment woudl quickly make it not worth the bother. Apparently they get a sufficient return off these lame scams to make it worthwhile keeping them running, even if 99% of the recipients immediately delete it.
