Carb mixture Set up

Hi

I was wondering if there was a way you could measure the air / fuel ratio for a classic vehicle at home using some sort of air / fuel mixture gauge, something similar to the probes used by dyno's ?

I want to set the carb up so that it is not running too rich or to lean. I can tell if it is running far too rich and too lean by the black smoke out the exhaust and the blue'ing of the exhaust pipes but I am looking to reduce the margin in the middle range ( if that makes sense )

Any help or pointers are welcome
