cainhead
Having a few issues with the top rad hose. Last few times I have been out in the car the hose has had all the air sucked out of it. After opening the radiator cap it goes back to its normal shape. There does not seem to be any overheating and the car drives fine. Cant see any fluid leaking. Would this just be a major airlock somewhere or something more serious. Any ideas/solutions would be much appreciated. Cheers
Dnk
There shouldn't be any air in it, is the rad cap in one piece ?
cainhead
Yeah it's a new one. It's full of fluid when the car is running it's after the car has been turned off. Is like it's trying to suck air out.
Steve
Where did you get the cap from?
cainhead
EBay I think. Could That cause the air issue. I replaced the old one as it was leaking fluid but never had this issue
Steve
If the problem started when you fitted the new rad cap, I would say thats a good place to start looking.
Dnk
Fit a genuine cap, it sounds like as its cooling down it cant draw coolant back into to system from the expansion tank

I hear what you saying and agree fully. Just wanted to see if anyone had found the same issue and it was something more complex. But yeah should be the first place to check. Will order one up tomorrow from Toyota. Cheers to you both for your help

Dnk
Also check the hose that goes from the rad neck to the expansion tank is okay and the over flow pipe on the tank

Whilst I think about it. I relocated the expansion tank between the fmic and the radiator. Would having it below the radiator cap cause any issue with drawing the fluid?
