Fuel Consumption

Wolf

Recommended Posts

Hi

I've been running the Supe on around 18-19 psi for a couple of months now and the average fuel consumption is 12 mpg - is this about normal for these or is it conspicuously high??

At this rate I may have to sign a liver or kidney over to Shell....

I run my Mk3 at 1.1. bar and get about 12-14mpg if I'm really going for it. Try filling up, going for a thirty mile motorwa cruise at 70 or 80 being as boring and slow as you can, and then filing up again. You can then work out your mpg and if it's less than 20-25 (depending on how slow you can make yourself go!) you could have a problem.

I've never really bothered to work it out before but now that I have I'm quite pleased.

My car's a bpu'd J-spec auto running 1.1 - 1.2 bar generally. My cars in daily use doing the commuting run and some fairly 'spirited' moments.

I regularly get ~ 220 miles to a tank full, (usually fill up before the light comes on - 60 litres approx) which I believe means I'm getting ~18 mpg...

BEST EVER = 31mpg , 2-ways , on holiday down to Cornwall.

BUT, that was limited to 85mph MAX. and ALL motorway/traffic-free

A-Roads ! ! (ie. just about the most 'ECONOMICAL-ist' trip ever !)

[limited due to being with a Megane/family and Eng'Man' light

would come on if went above 3,000 revs !!!!! -not problem but

couldn't trust light otherwise !?!]

I find to/from work, NOT really booting it, local B-Roads = ~15/17.

Up-to Pod, 6/7 runs, back again = ~23/25 -ish.

Only De-cat though !

FatS.

YEAH, it's thirsty, but, wadya' 'spect from a 300hp GT car ? ?

[with A/C, auto, Fat-Bast'-Driver etc.etc.]

I measured my mpg a couple of weeks ago - here's the info...

22mpg doing a fairly even mix of normal, fast, slow, town, mortorway, a-roads although I would say on average I was making "more progress" than I usually do. ;o)

('93 RZ de-catted exhaust, approx 1.2bar, hks induction kit, and 275&235 tyres).
