Hatton Garden jewellery quarter arrests, two in their seventies ;)

Comforting to know not all us oldies take up fishing or golf or even amateur radio,

the denizens of which are elderly, unwashed and sad, according to my wife image Personally I dispute the unwashed bit.

Two of the nine arrested yesterday were

over seventy (the eldest is 76 years old). Good to know some of us oldies are still having a bit of fun.

And yes, I have a sneaky admiration for them, a bold and seemingly nearly successful raid with no one

injured. Too many involved for success? The high average age suggests to me many were workers or

ex workers in the region, I believe it's still an older person's trade?

Had to snigger at the copper on TV yesterday, saying that despite common conjecture they were demonstrably not the Keystone Cops in their handling of this case.

Yeah right, during two of the biggest jewellery heists in recent times alarms and even phoned in real time information

was ignored by these conscientious and competent sleuths! The clip just needed the Pink Panther theme playing as background music.

As an aside I wonder how many users of the safe deposit are now cringing, due to somewhat imaginative insurance claims

now perhaps being delayed or challenged? How do you sort out ownership of a load of uncut stones all mixed up in a bin bag??

Beats nicking chickens... Sorry to hear about that, it's just plain terrible what people will do. Hope the kids are not too upset, as you said, how the hell do you explain it...?

Well luckily she is still at the age where you can invent stories and explanations that she believes. At the home where my wife works, they keep chickens and other animals as a therapy for the "inmates" and they have some bluebells from the same hatch as ours as well as some brown hybrids, so we have told her they have gone there for a holiday.....At least then next time she goes there with the wife she will think she has seen them and they are ok.

I have 3 more we hatched at Easter and they are just about ready to go outside so once I have secured the yard a bit more and they will go out and hopefully take her mind off it.

Meanwhile, I cant stop here chatting to you, I have a vary large core cutter that needs cooling down and checking on. The bloke I left in charge of it suffers from various old age related illnesses and may need assistance.
