foggy147 Posted May 20, 2015 Share Posted May 20, 2015 Hello all, I am currently on holiday and come back from snorkeling, took my go pro and decided to use a red filter for it. Just put the pictures onto the laptop and all the underwater pictures and videos have a red tint as I wasn't deep enough. Totally gutted as we saw stingrays and lots of colorful fish Reading up it seems they can be somewhat rescued. Here is one of the pictures, if anyone can bring it back to life and then advise how to do it me and the mrs would be extremely grateful as the pictures have ruined the trip! CASHEYE Posted May 20, 2015 Share Posted May 20, 2015 I've never used a go pro before, but does it shoot in a 'raw' format or just jpg? Editing these jpgs to bring out a more natural colour isn't going to be easy (If at all) but editing a raw file would give you a better chance. ellis Posted May 20, 2015 Share Posted May 20, 2015 There is a RAW filter in the latest version of Photoshop which does let you have a play. As your pic isn't a true RAW file it is pretty limited. The strong red tint has overpowered any other colour in there, however, attached is after a play trying to suck the red out and not leave it too monochrome. Its quite weird, from the go pro website it seems that the red filter is just a 'clip on and go' affair, so it's strange you had such drastic results. ellis Posted May 20, 2015 Share Posted May 20, 2015 Found this when Googling potential filter issues for the GoPro: "You need to have WB set to daylight for the filters to work correctly. If You use Auto WB the wb will be off." "If you are diving you need to set the WB with a red filter? I just finished a dive trip and the footage looks horrible."
