marc_p
Ok, so I have approached a crossroads in my car life and have to decide what to do, but in order to do that, I need to know what I'd be looking at for my car, note that it has a possible bottom end failure(bearings gone) due to have been run too rich at initial mapping. The car and spec is as follows: 1998 Facelift Aerotop, it's an RSP car but has had a blowover in a slightly lighter Suzuki Blue, paintwork is ok, but ideally needs a respray back to RSP. Spec is as follows: Engine 2JZ-GTE Engine Super Spark Coilpacks Unorthodox Racing Water Pump Pulley Unorthodox Racing Fan Pulley Unorthodox Racing Alternator Pulley Garage Whifbitz Idler Pulley Borg Warner S366 Turbo w/ polished housing Whifbitz Twin Wastegate Manifold 2x Turbosmart 40mm Wastgates 4" Alloy intake pipe Goodridge braided oil feed line Billet alluminium oil drain flanges 3.5" Kakimoto Exhaust System with 4.5" exit K&N Air Filter K&N ICV Filter K&N Oil Filter Whifbitz 3.5" v-band downpipe Carbon Fibre Fuse Box cover TRD Oil Cap Gates Racing Cambelt Gates Racing Fanbelt Garage Whifbitz Magnetic Sump Plug Garage Whifbitz Billet cambelt tensioner bracket Powerhouse Racing Modified Cam Covers Powerhouse Racing Breather System NGK Iridium BKR8EIX Spark Plugs Fuelling AEM 380Lph Fuel Pump Bosch in-tank adapter Sard 800cc Injectors Aeromotive Fuel Pressure Regulator Aeromotive FP Guage Garage Whifbitz Fuel Pulsation Dampner removal hose Garage Whifbitz FPR Fitting Kit Management Motec M600 ECU HKS EVC-S Boost Controller Apexi Turbo Timer Launch Control Programmed Through Motec Traction Control Programmed Through Motec Anti-Lag Programmed through Motec Secondary Lamba O2 sensor programmed through Motec Full Throttle Up-Shift Programmed through Motec Motec Data Logging AEM AFR Gauge TT6 Loom from donor car ABS and TC system from donor car GM 3 Bar MAP sensor MAC Boost Solenoid Cooling AFR Dualcore intercooler Koyorad Radiator APR Carbon Fibre Cooling Plate 3.5" Alloy intercooler piping Whifbitz 72 celcius thermostat Twin Electric Fans Drivetrain V161 6 Speed Getrag Gearbox TRD Gearbox Mount TRD Clutch Line RPS Cyn-R-G Flywheel RPS Stage 3 6-Puck Clutch AP Engineering Shifter Bushes A03B Limited Slip Differential Hubs, driveshafts, etc taken from TT6 donor car Manual gearbox tunnel taken from TT6 Donor Car Chassis 18" Enkei Nel Classe wheels(8.5J Front 11j Rear) - Currently sat on UK wheels due to brake clearance issues Rear Tire: 295/35/18 Brigestone Potenza's Front Tire: 235/35/18 Falken 452's Tein Flex Coilovers Tein Electronic Damping Force Control Super Pro Lower Control Arm Bushes, front and rear, inner and outer Super Pro Upper Control Arm Bushes, front and rear inner and outer Super Pro Anti Roll Bar Bushes front and rear Super Pro Subframe Bushes front and rear Super Pro Steering Rack Bushes Super Pro Diff Bushes Subframes taken from TT6 donor car Ultra Racing transmission tunnel brace Braking UK Spec Calipers Brembo Disks Brembo Pads Goddridge Braided brake lines Interior Gear stick and handbrake gaiters trimmed in black leather with blue stiching Sony double din headunit Boston Audio speakers in place of standard speakers Dash and clocks taken from Facelift TT6 Donor car Carbon Fibre centre console cover New OEM Parts Crank Pulley Cambelt Tensioner Water pump Oil pump Exhaust Gasket Inlet gaskets Fuel Filter
j_jza80
Lovely car Marc Really difficult to price due to the engine and paint issues. I'd say about £10k as is, but more like £17k with those issues sorted. Sadly I reckon breaking it would be better for you financially. Havard
Needs some current pics up Marc but as Jay says, breaking would be the best option.

I know, it would be very hard to break myself as I have put hundreds of my own hours into it, also got my spread sheet here of parts and work and everything spent on it and it owes me £42k, thats with me doing most of the work myself aswell Needs some current pics up Marc but as Jay says, breaking would be the best option. Will grab the latest pics I have. I could be interested in the car too :) The car is not going yet, not until I have got to the bottom of the issue and made sure that it is bearing failure. TBH, I wish I'd never started on it and just bought the bloody Corvette!!
T2 MSW
Diagnose fault and then decide what to do. if you have priced up what parts are worth if you break it then its already gone. I found this when I broke mine, a £25 part would have fixed it.

abtin90
Contact Lee and have it trailered down to SRD for a once over and diagnosis. If it's the bearing you can buy another stock bottom end and swap it other while it's there and drive it back home once it's mapped. However if your dead set on replacing the car then make a list and price up the parts to and see if the total is something you can live with. I believe it started out as an NA auto and Marc used another black TT6 to covert the car.
Jamesy
Dont sell just because of this hiccup mate - the cars a belter and very rare. You'd kick yourself selling this for sub £20k for something that could be an easy-ish fix even if you have to get it down this way to SRD. Yours is one of the cars that WILL definitely rise in value over the years mate, be great next to that R32 as investments
Richie_k83
Beautiful looking car there bud. I wouldnt give up, although an NA, mine has fought me with constant running issues that i struggled to get to the bottom of plus a busted flywheel. Thought about getting rid of it and the stress that it was giving me, ended up being a simple fix and all is forgotten about. Really enjoying the car now and wouldnt change it for the world.... Before my Supra i spent around 4-5k on a MK1 MX5, problem with spending and modifying a car is that you will never make all of the money back, even if you break it, although you will get more, its never the full amount! WayneW
Beautiful car, you should keep it !! Even with the engine issue, it's too much € without any issue for me :
mellonman
what a kick in the teeth due to some bad mapping , I think your in the hole alot of money and you have come this far if it come to it whats another 5k on a rebuild and mapping correctly

TheTurtleshead
How can anyone get a base-map so wrong that it fills the sump with fuel? Especially when it was done in person on a dyno?! Ryan sent me a base-map, I loaded it onto the syvecs and it ran. He then logged in remotely to get the idle etc right.. I then drove around where I lived for a few days, then drove 3 hours down to Lee to have it mapped... No massive overfuelling, no problems. Off boost it drove perfect. mellonman
Thinking about it there must be more to it as marc has an afr gauge and would see if it was mega rich, plus if it was so rich there would have been signs ,black smoke , missfire, bad running . how it could be so bad and be missed is very odd indeed . T2 MSW
yeah there is something more too this as there is no way its just down to bad mapping. And the AFRs Mark talks about are there or there abouts.
marc_p
I'm with you guys, but I know it was perfect before mapping as I serviced it regularly and I changed the oil before it went off and I never even started it due to the 850cc Sards in it, just disconnected the fuel pump and cranked it over a few times. Did a compression test tonight on it(bear in mind this is on a bone cold engine) and came out as so 1 - 151 2 - 160 3- 155 4 - 162 5 - 160 6 - 156 So considering it was cold, that still looks fine to me. mellonman
Yeah nothing to worry about with them results Are you sure your getting fuel in the oil maybe the smell of petrol while your changing the oil could be coming from a leaky injector seal?
