Guest Engesvik
Hey there. I got a problem whit my girlfriends supra. One is that when it is could I won't start. When I turning the key and the relays just clicks. It can takes about 10-15 minutes until the start motor begins. Anybody that having a clue what It can be? The other problem is that the there is none air flow sensor mounted on it. There is a apexi open air filter on it. I can't find any contact that looks like it have been to the air flow sensor. Was there any N/A supra whit out air flow sensor or how can I get it back on the car?
Mike2JZ
Not sure about the problems starting in the cold. If the supra is a jpec, then it will use a map sensor rather than a maf sensor and will have a temperature sensor that you can put somewhere along the intake pipe. Scooter
It may be the starter motor contacts, especially if once it does turn over it does so strongly and fires up normally.
Guest Engesvik
It is a j-spec and i got the air temp sensor in the air pipe. So you meaning that the j-spec n/a using a map sensor? I have removed the starter motors contact and cleaned it. But whit no result. When I tried whit out the contact in it did not obvious clicked in the start motor. And whit it in it did so the solenoid seems to be working?
Guest Engesvik
The next problem that have appear is that the fuel pump does not shuts down. When I'm turning the engine off and taking the key out the pump still goes
Chris Wilson
You need to remove the motor and fit a repair kit to renew the two contacts INSIDE the back end of the starter motor. I keep them in stock. How long does the fuel pump run for after key off?
Guest Engesvik
okey. so you strongly believes the problem is in there? until the battery is emty
Chris Wilson
Yes, take the starter off if the solenoid is clicking, but the starter is not turning and look at the internal contacts. The fuel pump sounds like a wiring or main ecu issue. The J-Spec N/A does not use a mass air flow sensor. It might be easier to find a new girlfriend IMHO.
