been on a some green laneing with my brother in law and it was great fun, looking at doing this more often so i was thinking what cheap reliable 4x4 i could get, for my budget the discovery looks ok, a few for sale that people have already had lifted put chunky tyres on snorkel etc so they look like ones i can get straight in and drive, any input would be great.

if you are set on a landrover check for rust they love it! just recently helped (pointed and laughed mainly) at a friend rebuild his inner front wings due to rot

personally i'm a jap fan and own a jimny 4" lift, mud tyres, snorkel, winch low ratio transfer box gets me pretty much anywhere, but i do break it as i p&p and keep looking for harder stuff to try every time i'm out, it will get there eventually, probably go with land cruiser axles or something

for laning a jimny with a 2" lift and muds and a snorkel would be in budget and a great little car, wouldnt see much issue with it just laning either

i do admit there are more spares available for discos as there is just more of them being broken

Old Land Rover Defenders as used by Farmers and mid-00s soldiers, rumour has it they're so old and useful they assisted with the assembly of Stonehenge. Bound to be some workable ones up for auction on ebay going for £2k or so.

Suzuki Jimny's seem to be the popular ones around here though, lots of teen men with muddy faces and big tyres on them.
