GTR Fever
Good day everyone, After about 3 years of struggling with my air conditioning to last (continuously getting leaks, hoses popping etc due to age), I have finally gotten everything working right. Well everything minus the A/c idle-up feature I mentioned in another thread. Anyways, I noticed a pulley/ bearing noise when I started her up over the weekend and when investigating further, the belt pulley on the compressor wobbles a little and the noise comes from there. When rev'd, the tensioner tightens a bit and the pulley stops wobbling and noise is gone. I took the belt off and was able to shake the pulley a little bit so I am guessing the front bearing is bad. So my question is, can I change that while the compressor is on the car and not affect the a/c gas? I am willing to dismantle everything in front (intercooler piping, radiator, radiator fan, fan shroud etc) to get easy access. Just do not want to have to re-charge the system. Reason being, I have used an A/C stop leak (bought in Halfords during my Reading trip in March this year) which is working perfectly so far, do NOT want to tamper with the system again Guidance guys? Thanks.
chrispot
i have not done many compressors but i would have thought it would be possible to do bearing in pulley/rotor on the car, may be a bit awkward. this might be of some use to you.
GTR Fever
Thanks, looked at that diagram already. I was able to change the AC clutches while the compressor was still on the car but did not get time to attempt the bearing just yet. Hoping to tackle it over this coming weekend. You might find this video useful Failing that there are plenty of vehicles that spec in the Denso Type 10PA17H compressor so it should be an easy to find scrapper part. GTR Fever
Thanks guys. If the compressor is out of the car it's pretty easy. On the car is a different story so I'm hoping it isn't too bad. Aiming to change it tomorrow or Saturday so we will see!
