Hitting the rev limiter on an auto?

Was driving last night and joining a road I had to use a heavy foot to get out . As the auto box usually does when I'm using a heavy foot in first she rev's all the way until changing till second at high revs. But this time she went all the way to therev limiter and bounced before changing gear? The other gears seemed fine it was just the first gear I believe. I then turned it off went back in and it happened again. I haven't tried this today as I needed some open road this morning and 8am traffic isn't the best.

Just a note, this wasnt in manu mode overdrive was on and it was in D.

Wouldn't removing the 1st cat cause slight overboost? I know its the more restrictive of the two. Guessing you don't have an FCD in place or Restrictor Ring? (Not sure if you'd need an RR with the 2nd cat in still though?)

Yeah and yeah

Your thread title has confused things a little, the term 'fuel cut' is generally used to describe the overboost safety feature on a turbocharged engine.

Sorry I know very little about the auto gearbox function, hopefully someone more qualified will be along in a moment :)

ps. may be worth changing the title to 'rev limiter' instead.
