jza800
I just have to get some inputs here.. dont now if i have a oil pressure gauge problem or something wrong somewhere.. on cold start up i have 80 psi off oil pressure, thats sounds good and normal.. on hot engine i idle about 17 to 21 psi off oil pressure, at cruise i have 47 to 50 psi at 2000 rpms, so long so good, thats seems all fine, but here is my little concern.. when i step on it, the oil pressure stops at 70 psi, even if i only are on 4000 rpm, and it stayes there, even if i goes to 5000rpm or 6000 rpm, so my question is, when does the relief valve open ?? and does the symtoms sounds normal , or do i have a worn gauge??? Chris Wilson
All sounds fine, the oil pressure relief valve is holding maximum pressure at a sensible figure. That's what it's for. http://www.waybuilder.net/sweethaven/MechTech/Automotive01/default.asp?unNum=5&lesNum=3&modNum=6 Edited May 7, 2015 by Chris Wilson (see edit history)
