Swampy442
Question for you all, is the cooling on the auto box thermostatically controlled, or is it constantly pumping? Im getting my car back on the road and, while priming the engine and flushing the auto box with fresh fluid, the gearbox didn't pump any fluid out of the cooling lines. The box has been rebuilt so my main concern is theres something wrong with it....
mellonman
Unless its inside the gearbox or controlled by the ecu , Being its rebuilt it might just be a matter of letting the oil fill the vaulve body which would take a while then it would pump out, I was amazed how long it took to crank oil to my single turbo through the new empty lines so I would expect the same for the auto box lines, How long was you trying for? Chris Wilson
It will take a LOT of cranking to prime the auto box and torque converter, fire it up and I expect you will see the cooler line fill nearly immediately.
Swampy442
I don't want to fire it up dry though, Ill crank it a little more for peace of mind. Thanks for the replies.
Chris Wilson
So long as pump and clutch packs were lubed as it went together, and TC partly filled with ATF before fitting it won't be "dry". Your more likely to burn the starter out than protect the g/box. Fire the devil up
