ashloys
Hey guys, The oil seals have went on my TT Supra and I'm stuck for finding another set in decent working order. There's loads of oil in the intercooler and coming out the BOV, so it can't really be anything else. Also the engine was fully built 2000 miles ago! I've been told I can just purchase a full replacement core/cartridge or whatever you want to call it already balanced and swap it into my existing turbo housings. Has anyone actually done this and it be successful? I'm absolutely skint and this seems like the most cost effective option. I'm sure I could get another second hand set for a couple of hundred but the question is, how long will they last? I've been offered another pair of CT20's but unsure of mileage/condition of them. These are the cores I was looking to buy, can anyone shed any light on this? http://www.maxspeedingrods.co.uk/ct20-turbo-chra-toyota-landcruise-td-hiace-hilux-4-runner-2-4l-2l-t-turbo-cartridge.html Thanks very much in advance, Ashley. Marty
If you put your cats back on (assuming they are off) the increase in back pressure may stop the seals from leaking so bad, gives you time to save up a bit more cash I did the same thing when my uk spec turbo seals started passing. With cats off - lots of blue smoke, with them on - nothing
ashloys
With mine there was only blue smoke on cold start but none whilst driving/on boost!
mellonman
Could be valve stem seals You can also do just the oil seals on the turbo , ash who drifts his supra done it all him self, ill try and find the link for you
j_jza80
If I were you, I'd take the car off the road until you can afford to get it sorted professionally or a decent set of turbos appears. And if it were turbo oil seals, I'd expect to see blue smoke on boost. As above it could be valve stem seals.
