Style
That's the kit with the bushes isn't it? I was looking at it as well a while back so interested to hear the peoples views Heard bushes are an absolute pig of a job though!!
Big Mark
Kit consist of BC Racing coilovers, upgraded anti-roll bars and all new poly bushes. Yeah I've heard it's alwful job but hoping to do it at my mates place where he runs his race team from so will access to all the tools I'll ever need. scorling
My car was fitted with all that a couple of years ago and as Paul said at the time, it drives like a rollerskate now. I didn't find the job difficult at all; I left it at Paul's for a couple of weeks, went back with a pile of money and left soon afterwards with a great car and no money. I would recommend it
Big Mark
Yeah I did enquire about getting it fitted by Paul but like working on my car myself, plus the money I save can be spent on further mods. Any negatives in your opinion to the ride now compared to before?
scorling
I can only fix things with a hammer, so I spend money instead. The ride is perfect and with big wide wheels is stable and entertaining within my limited driving abilities. There is another thread running about the best mod done, this would be mine
Big Mark
Excellent, can't wait to get this lot fitted, just need to put various parts of my engine back together so the I can drive the car over to my mates place next month.
Big Supes
I was under the impression the stock suspension bushes are the best for handling?
Big Mark
Stock bushes are getting on for 20 years old now and only options I'm aware of regarding replaceing is either whole new suspension arms from Toyota at a scary price or Poly bushes. LOGIE
I was looking at the handling kit but i wish there was an alternative to BC racing coilovers.
Big Mark
Looking on the website the kit price is the sum of the 3 components combined, so just select them separately but choose different shocks, simples.........
Dnk
What do you do when the 20 year old ball joints get play in them ?
Big Mark
Get new arms! There's no other choice. I had an upper rear fail MOT last year and other was an advisory, so I changed both arms for new ones. Not sure if I'm going to poly bush these or not when I fit my kit. On one hand they're almost new but will having one pair of arms rubber whilst others are poly be noticeable?
Dnk
Are all the arms with ball joints still available now ? if so then i'd be getting them now as it might not be the case in years to come
Rob W
I'm in this situation at the moment with do I polybush or not. Front uppers are discontinued and for love nor money I cannot find anyone who has stock. Got play in one front upper and ball joint knocking on one rear. Don't know what way to go, heard a lot of people say that they are very happy with the ride after fully polybushing.
Dnk
If the ball joints got play in it then you don't really have a choice other than to replace the arm or find a way of replacing just the ball joint which i don't think is a viable option as far as i'm aware. Or fit aftermarket arms like the Ikeya type if you can't get OE, looks like a pair of Ikeya front upper arms are around £
Rob W
Well it's either I get new bushes for fronts (ball joints fine) and new oem rears (ball joint is knocking) or all Ikeya top arms. Knowone has any information on what the ride is like with the Ikeya stuff.
Big Mark
Well my plan to strip parts off May bank holiday, press out the old bushes, get arms powder coated, fit new bushes, re-fit arms, fit coilovers and anti-roll bars the weekend after ran into a hurdle at stage 1. Of the 10 arms to come off only 2 are off, the others have bolts rusted into the bushes I'd guess as aren't moving. Air saw purchased so this weekend I'll be cutting the old bolts off. So be warned people, this is truly an horrid job. because when those bolts seize they really seize. Will be worth it in the end though!
