berg
Looking for some info on the valve/filter that is screwed into the inlet manifold (between the map sensor and the pressure port) What does this part do? Main reason for asking is ive had all my inlet and throttle body off and now as soon as the car hits full boost it just stutters and feels like its hitting a rev limiter at around 4k The little valve in question is broken and i have bodged it temporarily till new one arrives just so i could move the car, but when i went for a short drive to test everything i had the above problem and not sure if this valve is the culprit Edited April 9, 2015 by berg (see edit history)
wile e coyote
Sounds like fuel cut
David P
It is a pulsation damper, if it is leaking the engine cannot work properly. You could connect the vacuum without it as a stop gap fix.
berg
My firs thought was fuel cut but everything is the same as it was before so cant see why it would do that all of a sudden Cheers david ill bypass it and see if it makes any difference although new one will be here shortly
David P
If the MAP sensor does not receive the correct vacuum the ECU cannot supply the correct amount of fuel.
Chris Wilson
Check you still have vacuum at the restrictor valve, and it's not blocked.

Got you, Sounds like it could be that area then fingers crossed its the damages dampener/filter Check you still have vacuum at the restrictor valve, and it's not blocked. Where is the restrictor valve Chris?
Chris Wilson
It's the Sputnik shaped device you were talking about Just connect the MAP sensor and FPR to a plenum vacuum source without going through the damaged device for now.
berg
Ah i see, will try that thanks I now think this is definately my problem, my mate who was helping me put the car back together told me he had put the hose on what was left of the nipple and taped it up so i could move the car But upon further investigation ive realised hes drilled the hole out, pushed the hose inside, and then taped it up I cant imagine that being very good
Chris Wilson
There's another vacuum port nearby, T off that for the fuel pressure regulator and the MAP sensor, until you get another Sputnik thing.
berg
Yep will do that off the vac port next to it and see how it goes, cheers Chris
