Lil
Hello guys, It's been a while now that there is a terrible rattling noise coming from my middle/end box silencer at 2000 rpm. What I should do? I'm currently on HKS Silence HiPower exhaust, with 3" whifbitz Decat Pipes, I cannot find anywhere just the specific silencer online, shall I buy a 3" universal one and weld it on? or visit an exhaust garage and let them deal with it? do you know any garage around Yorkshire that won't charge me a fortune? Thanks in Advance Manos
brom86
May just be the heat shield. Get it up on a ramp and have a look. Shouldn't be much of an issue.
Lil
I thought the same mate, It's not the heat shield :/
David P
If you can hear a rattle above that racket, that is a serious rattle!
Marcus GTE
Look for areas where stones could be sitting. I once found one rattling ontop of a bracket. Was glad it was that simple!
Nic
Have a look down the tail pipe and see if you can see if the internal baffle has collapsed, if it hasn't then you could get the back box cut open, repacked and welded up again. Alternatively cut the silencer off and get a new one welded in it's place, the stainless steel Jetex silencers are good quality https://www.jetex.co.uk/jetexstore/index.php?_a=product&product_id=214 For jobs like this your best bet would be to find yourself a tame welder, my guy is semi-retired and will do this sort of thing for beer money Edited April 7, 2015 by Nic (see edit history)
