mugen_power
Hey guys, Has anyone split Racing Hart CR's and refurbished them themselves? I've got a few weeks off work and I fancy a project and really want to refurb my wheels, they're not polished or anything currently they just have a flat painted finish. Is this likely to be possible myself?
Ric
Are racing harts split-able? im sure i read somewhere that they are just designed to look like split rims/2-3 piece but actually they are 1 piece.
Mk4Gaz
Pretty sure they're not true split rims, speak to benjy on here, as he had some that he was going to get refurbed If you want the lips polished, Rob mitchell is the man to talk to
suprano
Sounds like a sweet project I took 7 hours a wheel on my old fake split axis wheels and had the lips likes mirrors arm yourself with lots of sandpaper from 80 right up to 2000 and a tube of autosol and a six pack of elbow grease and get on it
mugen_power
Well this was going to be my next question, what the hell are they?! I've searched a lot online and can't really find an answer, some say they're 2 piece, some say they're 3 piece, some say they're 1 piece
Dnk
They look like a two piece wheel but photos i've seen show the centre section is welded to the outer lips
Dnk
The last photo on this guys advert shows the weld http://www.e46fanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=845127
mugen_power
Thanks DNK, I think the best thing to do then is whip one of mine off tomorrow and see if it has the same weld as those pictures
tkddav3
Whiffin on here had some racing hart 5 spokes like the ones of the original fnf supra for sale. Wheels had been on a car that had been binned. Was gunna buy them to refurb and have as a spears set until it was found they are originally welded together from the factory
mugen_power
Yeah so these definitely are welded from behind, damn was thinking it would be easier to refurb myself if I could split them
