Bob
Out of curiosity I took a closer look at the "Uk spec bonnet" today. It's not. Neither is the hoodscoop screwed or bolted down but held on with, I presume, super-glue. I'll have to keep it on now probably, due to any paint discoloration (and not knowing what's holding it on!) but it's a bloody pointless air brake in my eyes, and I'm now worried it might fly off and cause someone damage if I'm travelling at speed. Not a happy bunny.
michael
Does it feed into the engine bay though or is it purely cosmetic?
Bob
nope, purely cosmetic. Literally just stuck straight on top of the jap bonnet.
SupraStar 3000
why would you buy a scoop and not fit it correctly. I'd pull it off then cut the correct hole and re-fit. If the pain pulls it doesn't matter as your cutting the hole out.
Bob
Is there any additional bracing or owt under the UK spec bonnet? Can anyone take some pics of where the UK vent screws onto, please? Or is is it just a case of chopping out a hole and drilling a couple of holes in the outer skin to secure the vent?
Kopite
There's just the routing to the top of a couple of cylinders on the UK too, the cosmetic vents are just that i.e. don't get the routing with it. (Not saying that the UK vent is *that* functional by the way...) PIC
JohnA
During days like today, I would prefer the UK scoop to have been a vent. Lots of ultra-hot air is trapped under that bay, my charge temps were 62C - 70C today, off boost (!!!), they would only drop below 70C if I were to take it full throttle for a few seconds, then it would stay down. How queer...
JohnK
I now run with just the under bonnet part not shown in that pic. It channels the air to the bit in that pic without much of a gap.
