robtup
hi every one owned a 95 tt manual supra for nearly ten years all ways run sweet up intill about six months ago engine started to rattle just befor 3000 revs so I stopped using it every one I have spoke to are saying bottom end. started to look at getting full engine rebuild and its pretty scary how much it could cost just wanted to hear from people that have had similar problem how they solved it and if people had any problems regrets after having a rebuild tanks rob
Hitbox Junkie
Rebuild is like having a fresh engine give some of the traders on here a bell, after all the specialists
Gaz6002
Welcome become a paid member and you will never look back. There's more information available on here than anywhere else on the net. If it is a bottom end you'll find another engine no problem. They're not even that expensive.
robtup
did consider another engine but figured it would be just my luck that would go wrong on me do like the idea of having a rebuilt fresh engine I have spoke to whiff bitz a few times they seem helpful but to put it bluntly I shit me self wen I see wot it could cost. I brought upper and lower arms front and back plus suspension and a set of wheels last year so fill like there is no turning back now don't like seeing it sitting in my yard doing nothing
masterfett
My bottom end went, I had lots else done including vale seals hybrid turbos etc.. Cost me just shy of 6 grand. I could dig out my invoice but from memory would be around 2.5 / 3k depending on what exactly needs doing.
Swampy442
Everyone may be saying bottom end, but you need a professional to categorically state that. Whats the spec/mileage/service history of the car?
robtup
where did you get it done mastefett I thought it was gonna cost me 7 to 8k just to have the engine built

Swampy442
Not exactly galactic mileage, pretty reasonable really. When/how often has it been serviced?
masterfett
Whifbitz did mine. Best bet as other say send it to someone who knows what they are doing. That's what I did, granted it ended being more expensive than I hoped, but now I know my car is refreshed and don't need to worry about anything major

JordanC
i do body work on cars for a living but i know nothing about engines clueless would love to do it myself but if i could Plenty of help and workshop manuals here bud, join up! This forum is a fantastic supra resource. I'm clueless about engines and mechanics in general but the forum gives me a bit more confidence at giving stuff a go (granted, maybe not engine building... yet!!) Same as doing body work i'd imagine mate, just take it slow

Swampy442
Like I said though I wouldn't start worrying about bottom end knocks until a specialist looks at it and diagnoses it. Whifbitz isn't far from Essex, get it transported there.
mellonman
Like alot have said on here already , It could be many things not an engine rebuild , but the oil cooler thing sounds abit suspect though
