Shaleskin
Right my Supra is being a pain, when it's cold it'll idle at 1400/1500 and work it's way down to 800 rpm when upto temp. The thing is, when it's warm it's burning a little oil (white/blue) and constantly jumping as if it can't idle perfectly. (Between 800-820 or so). There are 2 lights flashing on the dash which I can't seem to stop them. when you hold the accelerator no smoke out back and sounds healthy. This has been played with but not by me so I don't know what has been set up to what. I do know it's running 650cc injectors with an emanage piggy back (I believe), 264 intake camshaft not sure on exhaust, adjustable pulleys, turbo's setup in parallel mode which will also lead to my next issue. When you open the throttle and snap it shut you get a strange sound like when you hit a ruler when it's half on a desk which gives you a metallic sounding boing sound... only way I can describe it. Coming from the filter. if you rev higher the BOV opens and then you get a little flutter. I have a video of the idle situation but not the intake noise which I will post a link to shortly. ___ Idle Issue: https://vid.me/mLpv Edited March 25, 2015 by Shaleskin (see edit history)
Swampy442
The idle will probably be linked to the map, get that looked out Warm engine burning oil could be turbo oil seals The metallic noise, like a honking goose? Theres a metal reed valve in the second turbo pipework that will have lifted slightly. I had the same problem a few years back on an aristo, took me an age to find. Theres a metal reed valve in the second turbo pipework that will have lifted slightly. I had the same problem a few years back on an aristo, took me an age to find. I thought it could be turbo seals as it's been sat (basically, it's covered 150miles) for the last 5 years and yes it's a very metallic bizarre sound only when you come off the throttle with little to no pressure in the system. Where abouts is this and do I need to bend it back, hammer it, cut it? What's your opinion on the lights flashing on the dash, one for traction and the other for O/D. When i press manu it doesn't come up on the dash. If i turn the engine off and put it to the turn before cranking, I can turn manu on and off, O/D on and off and the traction stops flashing, can't turn it off but it stops atleast. Does that sound like it's part of the map or sensors going awol? Thanks
Swampy442
For the lights Id pull the error codes and see what you get. The valve, its in a rectangular 'box' in the intake pipework to no2 turbo. Don go crazy on it as its quite thin
Swampy442
Heres the one on mine, see how the petals are lifted up? Thats what causes the honking, they should be flat against the plate. IIRC they are attached at the back with screws

Are the petals needed for anything in particular in the system or can I remove them?
Swampy442
If the car is set up in TTC mode then no, if not then yes.
