Jam127
Is a 6spd release bearing a 6speed release bearing or do different clutches have different bearings? I have a lightned flywheel and a 4 plate paddle clutch in just now Getting alot of rattling when foot is off the clutch when pressed it goes away so thinking its the bearing. Also sometimes is rough goig into the lower gears Any tips when fitting? Thanks!!
Guest JimR
No. different clutches have their own release bearings, the stock 6spd may not fit, bronze four or six puck clutches do rattle. it is unlikely to be the bearing. Adjust the pedal movement.
crock
its quite a common thing to get rattle with a lightened flywheel, normally the Dual mass flywheel absorbs the extra transmission noise, as far as fitting the bearing i'm sorry i can't help you there i'd just leave that to my mechanic
Chris Wilson
It is highly unlikely to be the release bearing, but removal of the stock dual mass flywheel will excite the gears in the gearbox, and under way the propshaft and the rear diff into making rattles and buzzing / ringing noises. It's to stop those noises Toyota fitted a hefty dual mass flywheel. You will have to live with it or fit a stock flywheel, to which your current clutch almost certainly will not fit. Jam127
It basically sounds like something is loose. Would it be possible for the flywheel to be loose? It sounds its worst when in reverse - - - Updated - - - And thanks for the replies
Chris Wilson
Well, things can be left loose, or come loose, but it's entirely normal for a none dual mass flywheel to make the gearbox sound like a bag of shrapnel. Call it a feature and turn the wireless up.
