r2ck_p
Hi guys, I took my car out of winter storage. Connected the fresh fully charged battery, it started fine first time as usual, drove it to the petrol station (1mile away) to put some air in the tyres and the car initially wouldn't start again. The battery was definitely 100% charged when connected as I checked with a voltmeter. I tried a few times and when turning the key to the last notch it just did nothing, complete silence. Initially I suspected the started motor but I put new copper contacts in that a year ago. So Ray (Radio) had his head in the engine bay and hears a part making a clicking when I try start the car, he took the plastic cover off which revealed 3 ABS relays/solenoids (pictured). He fiddled with them and pushed down on them just as I was trying to start the car again and it fired up fine. I don't know if its coincidence or one of the relays/solenoids might of been a bit loose or had a bad connection. Can someone please confirm what these do and what part if any they play in the start up process of the Supra? I have RaceLogic TC fitted to if that helps. Also are they supposed to make a clicking sound when you try to fire up the engine? Started the car a few times since and its been fine. Cheers
Rummy
I think they're for the Traction and ABS solenoids iirc Nevermind..just re-read your post and you already know what they are...d'oh! Jellybean
I think this is the same thing I ask a good few years back, it turned out to be the Throttle body if I remember , resets itself , ticking sound a few times ; I am nearly sure it was on ignition off
r2ck_p
I thought some of the Supra tech guys on here would know this for sure, but seems like they don't. Anyone know for sure what part if any they play in the start up process of the Supra and if they are supposed to make a clicking sound when you try to fire up the engine? Ian C
They don't play any part in the starting of the engine but the car being started will trigger a self-test and basically bringing all the systems online, so they'll click then.
