Tyre sizes - will 285 or 295's and 255's fit? What ratios?

I sold those 295's to Shane because they were suited to his 10.5J rims.

My wheels were 10J and 295's were not happy.

I went to Visit Vredestein Technical Guru at their HQ at Wellingborough who informed me that 295's are too large for 10 J.

Well they're ordered now so will see how they go. And at the price I paid I'll sell them on if I don't like them.

What was it about the 295's that you weren't happy with?

I find there's always very conflicting info on tyres/rims. I'm currently trying to establish the widest rim and tyre I can fit without rolling the arches, but I'm guessing that depends on the rim style/offset as well.

Edit - for the rear tyres

TBH there's just too many variables to give an accurate answer. I used to use/rate Yokohamas, because the as well as being great tyres, the tyre wall/rim protector design stopped rubbing on my second Corrado, which had done it horribly on whatever Pirellis it came with. Unfortunately their designs are quite different now, and the prices for them have become silly.

Exactly, I think you have to find a wheel you like, then suit the offsets/tyres to that wheel for fitment to the specific car. If you want to go wide, you have to be open to the idea of modifying the arches. I personally don't want to risk my paint, so will stay on the safe side.

Will do, speaking to Arch Enemy guy at present, looking like it'll be sometime in April. Give's me time to find rear tyres.

Which guy is doing your arches? Chazz?

Mine are being done next monday by him
