Digger009
I've been looking around for a radiator for an 96 non facelift TT automatic but I've not really finding an awful lot. Most of them are showing as having only the manual version, but have come across a couple of things. I know they are different but I'm not too sure in what way, can anyone help me confirm what I'm looking for as some of the sellers on ebay or breakers don't know either. The other thing that I've seen a couple of times is that I could just buy a manual radiator and then buy a separate oil cooler as well, and was wondering if anyone has done this and to what effect. Is this something that is a) possible and b) a reasonable solution to a now quite frankly stupid situation I have found myself in. I was hoping to spend less than £200 on the parts and don't want a stock one as the plastic on the top is a weakness that I don't want to deal with if I don't have to. Any help is appreciated as I'm pulling my hair out at the minute.
tony tt
I got mine off EBay and it was less than £200 for an aluminium one. A rad is a rad mate I'm not sure there is such a thing as a manual and auto radiator.
tony tt
To be fair the stock rad is immense if you can get one. Better than the aluminium ones anyway I think.

jcbt
Didn't know that. Tony if you don't have a stock rad you need at least two coolers running the power you have on a stock auto box. Just remember it's the heat that kills The box as well as torque

Swampy442
Plastic end tanks are not a weak point, only if they're 20 years old maybe. If you got a new, Toyota rad it would outlast the car. As above though a manual rad with an oil cooler, problem solved.
Digger009
Thanks everyone, I'm just gonna go for the manual rad with a separate oil cooler. Just wanted to make sure before I started buying bits for it.
ScottC
Got my auto rad from Brighton Radiators, very pleasant to deal with and even rang me a few days later to make sure it had arrived safely and everything was correct.
