Guest TimothyW1994
Hi Guys, I have a 1993 Twin turbo Supra in near stock condition. I'm experiencing a loss of power with the car whenever I really want to step on the throttle and the 2nd turbo starts to kick in, when this happens it makes a loud wind flapping sound (that's the closest description I can give it). This loss of power occurs more often than not. I took the car to my local mechanic, who said to me that one of the actuators is broken, and that this is what is causing the loss of power. He then went on about how a cracked actuator could mean there is something wrong with the turbos, and before I knew it he was quoting me quite a large sum of money to fix what didn't seem like a big problem. I took it to 2 other mechanics and just from taking a quick look said that my mechanic is making a bigger issue about it than it actually is. So my question is, could a broken actuator be the source of my power loss? and if so would that mean there is likely something wrong with the turbos ? Or is it simply a matter of replacing the broken actuator ? Or could it something totally different? Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated as I wouldn't say I'm that mechanically minded and only going off what my mechanic has told me. Guest TimothyW1994
Also - the car is running on too much boost, 16psi, as opposed to the stock 11.6psi, which I only discovered recently. Should this be turned down ? Edited February 24, 2015 by TimothyW1994 (see edit history)
