pedrosixfour
Hey folks. Can anyone tell me what the physical dimensions of the shims used in a small case differential are, outside diameter and inside diameter is really all I'm after so I can see if I have anything in stock that would match them. I'll be completing an LSD swap from a Torsen unit to a new Cusco unit using the same casing & gear ratio in the near future. I swapped out the gear ratio before and chanced the result to luck when it came to gear contact and bearing preloads. It turned out to be a complete success as it happens and I've had no trouble with the differential since. But with the new Cusco item I'd prefer to do the job properly & overhaul the diff while I'm at it so new bearings, seals, O-rings, shims & crush tube are all needed. Thing is, I've literally hundreds of shims at my (unofficial) disposal in the workshop, some possibly even with the right inner & outer diameters, and it would make the diff overhaul that much simpler & quicker if I could gather up a number of these shims in various thicknesses and use them to determine what proper single thickness shims would be needed from Toyota to complete the overhaul. I won't get a chance to pull the diff from the car and strip it for a while yet and I'd like to have some of the groundwork done in the meantime. Thanks.
