Project Blitz
Blitz Supra Revival Background: Blitz, of Japan, decided to have a go at the Ultimate racing challenge… the Nürburgring lap time. Their challenge was to break the world record for the fastest time around the ‘Ring’ in a road legal production car, and this is where the story begins. Nürburgring The north loop is 20.8 km (12.9 mi) long and has more than 300 meters (1,000 feet) of elevation change from its lowest to highest points. Jackie Stewart nicknamed the old track "The Green Hell," and it is widely considered to be the most demanding and difficult purpose-built racing circuit in the world. Their target was 7:53 and they managed 7:49 which is staggering even to this day let alone in 1997. There is also evidence of Autocar’s feature of the Supra recording a 7:21 sec 7:21 --- 168.163 km/h -- Blitz Supra, 650 PS (Autocar magazine 1997) http://speed.supercars.net/PitLane?viewThread=y&gID=3&fID=0&tID=10073 (If anyone has the Autocar mag from 1997 i'd love to see it) 7:50 --- 157.787 km/h -- Blitz Supra, 750hp, Herbert Schürg (1997)As per Video Option mags. Note, the track has been resurfaced and flattened several times since then – so it makes the 7:49 & 7:21 even more impressive. The official time, Driver and notes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sport_auto_(Germany) Sports Auto (Germany) Official My Story 2001 - I was a young chap working in a retail store and one Sunday; we closed for the day and were waiting for the Debrief. I went outside for some air and heard a sound of a mean car, this was the first time I saw the Blitz Supra in the flesh (I’d seen the Max power feature before: http://mkiv.supras.org.nz/articles/mpower1.htm ) and to my surprise one of my colleagues said that’s my uncles car, to which no one believed him. So he called him and he turned back to show us the car, I jumped in and was lost for words! Except when I said “I’m gonna buy this car one day!” (Jokingly) She was stored in his garage and only driven a handful of times, if that, for around 8 years. 2009 – After many conversations I bought my Dream car – who’d know the joke I made came true. That’s when I met Lee at SRD. Frist thing I needed to know was if this actually was the car it was supposed to be and had the spec list from the magazines – Lee managed to verify that the engine was the highly modified Race spec that was used for the Ring. 2010 – The project to revive her, to her former glory, began but at the same time, my personal life was changing. I was negotiating a house at the same time and my offer was accepted so had to sell my S14a Drift car and Type R to pay the deposit and buy the house. Few months later my daughter was born – priorities were changing and finances tight. Major house renovation, double glazing, boiler to name but a few – all boring, but important, stuff were taking priority. 2014 – Nov/Dec; Work started again… Edited February 24, 2015 by Project Blitz (see edit history)

Project Blitz
Whats the goal for you then mate? I'd like to get her to be restored back to her former glory - I know the engine can handle a lot more but I'm after minimal lag and very much a track set up. Hammer
Great you are able to get this started. Well done for keeping hold of it, when family matters are important it's sometimes hard to justify a luxury in the form of a specialist car. Looking forward to the up-dates. A great piece of Supra history.

A great piece of Supra history. Thanks all It all happened at once but now will be able to give her some proper attention and slowly build her up to a great track car (with some comfort to be used for street, where I'll use it most) Edited February 24, 2015 by Project Blitz (see edit history)
Project Blitz
Blitz' focus was to build the car to smash the record, they built the engine, suspension, diff etc really strong - they used some special racing oil (designed to be changed after a few laps) also unsure of the fuel they used. Lee and the team found loads of fixtures and fitting which needed to be changed - when it was originally built it wasnt designed to be a show car and so bits were patched together to make things work - and they worked alright, having recorded that time! but now we can work on the detail I want to have it built back up to a good level with the love and care it deserves Edited February 24, 2015 by Project Blitz (see edit history)

Project Blitz
Lee pulled her apart and then the rebuild began As per my build title, the idea was to restore her to her former level and add alittle more - all the engine parts were genuine and I wanted to keep everything to ensure she stays to the original spec. with SRD on board, Lee and the team added their own expertise to ensure the build was clean and get her looking like new Edited February 26, 2015 by Project Blitz (see edit history)
