Shane
OK, I had a day's holiday yesterday as the weather was going to be good and managed to finally get a few hours in on the car. I always intended to de-grease and clean up the engine bay prior to fitting the front subframe, but it never happened and I just steamed in and got the front subframe back on the body. I still intend to do this and hopefully will do it over the weekend. What do people use these days for this, back in the day "gunk" was the stuff but am guessing there are better things than this available now. I have a cleaning gun with my compressor kit, looks like a spray gun with a long tube and nozzle, but what's best to use in that for cleaning an engine bay? Not sure why but am struggling to upload pictures from work today. Will add some later. Chris Wilson
Buy 25 litres of truck clean (detergent) and use it dluted through the gun. Use neat on engine parts but NOT on paintwork.
Shane
Thanks Chris, I will look into that. Buy 25 litres of truck clean (detergent) and use it dluted through the gun. Use neat on engine parts but NOT on paintwork.
Shane
So here's a jaunty angle shot and you can see the shiny re-plate bolts used. Here's the rest of the bolts I have left for the rear, this is about a tenth of what I started with, so its good to see the pile getting smaller. Shane
Well 12 months on and I finally made the time to spend half a day on the car today. Eldest son came over and we got the rear subframe bolted up to the body. A huge step closer to getting the car rolling again. Plan is to do as much as I can over the coming months and then in Autumn get it into the garage so I can work under cover. Not much to see from these photos but will get some more up in a few days. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=211703&stc=1&d=1462650602 http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=211704&stc=1&d=1462650602 Edited May 7, 2016 by Shane (see edit history)
