ripped_fear Posted February 22, 2015 Share Posted February 22, 2015 If your car isnt a facelift then prep them well. And use halfords matt black. Its as close to OEM as you can get. My odo surround isn't painted and they sit edge to edge with the painted dash panels. You wouldn't know apart from to touch as obviously it isnt rubberised. novak Posted February 22, 2015 Author Share Posted February 22, 2015 Thanks guys - I like plasti dip finish but I am worried it won't last long - is it robust enough - scratches etc.? Halfords matt black paint - is it scratch resistant? My friend painted his matt black but it is so easy to scratch... Car is pre facelift - even with a nail varnish all comes off to bare plastic. I wish there was an equivalent colour made for the facelift panels. I am reliably informed that facelift panels can no longer be bought new as Toyota have stopped manufacturing them and global stock has run out. What a total pain. ripped_fear Posted February 23, 2015 Share Posted February 23, 2015 My pannels have been done in the halfords matt paint for over 2 years now nearly 3. Still looks brand new. They were professionally prepped though as my Dads a painter by trade. Pictures can be seen early on in my build thread. And if you look in the last few pages you will see they still look perfect.
