Rashed
Hi all, Recently I have discovered it is finally possible for me to own a supra...yay! I'm from the Midlands and I am after a UK spec manual twin turbo supra....cheaper to insure than an import haha I haven's really come across one yet in that spec so I was wondering if you guys could help? Ideally I want one close to stock spec as possible but a few tasty mods wont scare me away The lower the mileage the better but I know these engines are bulletproof so a maintained high miler wont be an issue. Budget is around 10k which I hope is fair. But yeah hoping you guys can point me in the right direction Thanks and looking forward to being an active member as this place seems pretty cool! Mike2JZ
Welcome and good luck on your search Unless you get lucky, you will need more than 10k for a UK TT6. That said, you should be able to find a TT6 JSpec for that budget no problem.
Rashed
Cheers for the reply Mike How much would I need to spend realistically for what Im looking for? Also what is a TT6 JSpec? Thanks in advance!
Tyson
Welcome to the forum, once you've paid your 10 quid membership you can have a browse of our classifieds but as above I think you will struggle big time with that budget for a uk spec. jspec would be more achievable unless you are in no hurry and willing to wait a while but if one does turn up it won't last long. As for a budget think upwards of 15k for a good example.
Rashed
So an import will be more achievable with a budget of 10k? Does anyone know any import insurance specialists I can use as most of the quotes I've been getting for imports are ridiculous so far Either way it has to be manual and turbo for me as they are a must and also I do not mind waiting for the right car to come up Cheers Tyson! Graham1984
Age/postcode etc all are massive factors in this. As well as obvious bits like point's and how long you've been driving for too.
Rashed
Well Im 22 and live in a really bad postcode however I have a clean licence and have been driving for 5 years with 5 years NCB. A UK spec Supra costs around 1.5k to insure but an import doubles to 3k haha
Graham1984
Try Aviva, Lynbrook, LWIB and Sky insurance as bring a fully paid up member to this club gets you a discount (Club insurance)

Unfortunately yes if you buy for less it could cost you more in the long run in repairs. I bought mine when I was 21 for insurance reasons and it hasn't cost me anymore in the long run due to savings I've made in premiums. j_jza80
So looking at this it seems it will be easier to get hold of a twin turbo manual import? Yes, but there aren't that many 6 speed imports around either. Don't discount the auto/tiptronic models until you've tried them, they are very good cars in their own right, and much cheaper. Chris Bailey
No I haven't tried an Auto but I find them so lacking the involvement of driving. I know auto isnt for everyone, but I'd imagine alot of supra auto owners will back me up here dont discount the autobox in the supra. Fantastic gearbox and capable of holding 500lbft all day long. The manual mode is great to

Chris Bailey
Whats the manual mode like if you dont mind me asking? Thanks Allows you to select the gears manually, "L" is 1st gear, "2" is 2nd gear, and "D" is 3rd/Drive. Click on the manual mode which is highlighted blue and it will give you more information about it.
Scooter
An auto TT is ok and will definitely be better than you imagine an auto being. Also if you find a nice one it will hold it's value should you really not get on with it. There are so few Supra's for sale at any one time it makes sense to just check them all out and if a nice £4-6K auto tt comes up local'ish then at least consider looking at it. If your heart is set on the manual then ignore this, but the advice stands on taking your time to find a good one

Im not being funny, but thats what 99.9% of new owners say. You can't discount it if you haven't even tried it

gordy.r
This. I was the same until I drove one! +2 !!! I was adamant I wanted a manual a few years ago. Listened to everyone saying don't discount the Auto, tried one, loved it, bought one!

I wouldn't not be able to help myself giving out the light/night/drift gear options
