calsupra
The other day i noticed some oil drops under the front end of the supra so i looked under the bonnet and the bottom of the power steering pump looked abit wet. So i topped it up and bled the air out. When i started her up earlier all was fine until it warmed up then it started to whine really loud and when i revved it or turned the wheel the whining got alot louder. I made a video of the noise here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1QS3GmgDok&feature=youtu.be
Morzy2k5
Sound like the power steering pump is goosed!! But from that video..it looks like the nut holding the power steering pump pulley is missing in the centre of the pulley.
trebor69
Defo the power steering pump, when I fitted mine to this engine it made the same noise until the fluid got round it.

Abz
As above, though are you sure nothing is touching the belt?
calsupra
As above, though are you sure nothing is touching the belt? Nothing's touching the belt, the noise seems to go a lot quieter after I take it for a drive but you can still hear a feint whining. And the steering feels abit funny too, how can I repair this? Scott
Bearing in the PS pump sounds finished. Is there anything holding the PS pulley on?
Chris Wilson
Take off the reservoir, drain it out and flush it through with petrol or brake cleaner until the flushing agent runs clean. there's a nylon gauze filter in the lower part of the reservoir and it *might* be choked up with sediment. Don't poke at it, or you'll put a hole through it. then air dry, refit and fill with fresh fluid. Top up with engine idling, if it foams up leave it a few hours for air to percolate out, and top again. If this doesn't work it's possibly the pump needs rebuilding. i keep service items in stock, but it's not a job for the kitchen table.
