Scott
Currently I'm idling between 550 and 600degC. This seems high compared to what I had previously, but previously I was in the down pipe off of the TT cats, rather than in runner 6 right off the manifold. Does this sound about right, or is the timing a bit off? Thanks
Tricky-Ricky
I only used to see about 350-400c in the turbo housing during idle.
secondjump
Mine used to sit around 500 to 550. Using runner 6. A lot of guages are not that accurate, so don't panick if people are quoting slightly different readings to you. I'm more interested in what you are seeing on boost? Lee P
That's fine for runner 6, hottest place so best place for the sensor to be mounted
Tricky-Ricky
It will all depend on the mapping anyway, the best sensors are Inconel type, but you will obviously need decent electronics to read properly, I used to use Red-line gauges, which where intended for aircraft. Scott
The car isn't mapped yet. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't TOO extreme. Happy to factor in 50+/- degrees just for the gauge. As long as I'm not 200 over what I should be I'm happy for now. The idle is a little lean also so I'm guessing that will add a little to the EGT. Thanks for the info guys, set my mind at ease
CanisLupus
Also depends on Idle Speed. I'm having around 350-400°C with E85 in the first runner(around 2-3cm from the head) and around 70-100°C more with Normal Fuel. Idle sits @900rpm with 264 Cams(depending on their shape there will be an EGT Difference) But on Idle there won't be any difference between 1st and 6th runner.
