Babe
Got my TT last week, totally bog standard J-spec. Currently has 16" anthracite alloys with 225s on the front and 245s on the back, with an offset of 50. I want better handling/braking... J-spec brakes don't seem to match the power of the engine and small wheels/tyres make the back end feel a bit loose for my liking. I want to get a set of 17" silver alloys which will fit 245s on the front, and 265s on the back, and have enough room for UK-spec brakes. Want an offset of 50... what exactly do I need and where do I get them? Have no idea how much this is gonna cost! Where do I start looking? I'm a student so I ain't got much cash. Am I best getting 2nd hand alloys and new brakes?

Steve W
Anyway... the Standard UK Supra wheels (or later Jap =same !) are the cheapest way to your goal. 17's which will take ~245(255?) front and 275(i had 285's...JUST !) rear and are MADE to go over the larger brake calipers. Otherwise, the lads/lasses on here will pop up with Aftermarket (DEARER!) options....... FatS.
Babe
OK... sounds good. Anybody got any?
Kopite
There's the odd set that crop up now and then, some go dirt cheap on ebay but it's hard to know the quality. For a price guide, I sold mine for £375 but they were refurbished and had brand new F1s on all round.
Babe
Taa. Better look at e-bay! Still confused about the wheel sizes tho.... If I want 255s on the front, and 275s on the back, what am I looking for? All this 8.5 stuff confuses me (dumb blonde!)
Steve W
8.5" wide will take UP TO ~245 (maybe 255 ?) 9.5" (UK rear) will take UP TO 285 (i had them, no trouble !) but more usually 265/255. [the 285's DID look a little "tractor-like" if i was self-critical ]
Babe
Taa... at least I know what I'm looking for now!
Nic
I'm going to organise another group buy on the larger spec brakes if there is enough interest. See details here, if you get full set front and rear it is a saving of at least £200 over normal Toyota UK prices. Add your name if interested.
