Start up problem - Cuts out on idle

Hiya Guys,

Having an issue with the old girl. The car is turning over with no problems and stays on as long as you have your foot slightly on the accelerator, as soon as you let off to idle it cuts out. I have checked the diagnostics and there are no error codes. Any one have any ideas?

Bit of background to help:

Car had been sat on the drive since November. Turned it over for a while but then went away for a few weeks, so the battery completely drained. The battery charger that I had to hand was playing up, so I called the breakdown guys out and they came and used their charger to get it going. I left it running for about 15 minutes before planning on heading out for a long drive. Reversed off the drive, turned to leave and it just cut out and obviously wouldn't start again due to the flat battery. Luckily the guy wasn't far away so came back. Connected it up again, started no problem, as soon as he disconnected the charger it died again. He used his voltmeter and decided that the battery had had it.

Bought a new one today, connected up, starts first time but then the same problem persists. It just dies!

Has anybody experienced this before or perhaps has an inkling as to what the cause might be?

Many thanks

Ga
