I would have expected that at the Oz race no one would have been allowed to substitute as they hadn't qualified the car.

Anyhoo...lets hope Valteri is better.

The money is on Williams borrowing the Mercedes Reserve driver who drove the FIFI and Merc in testing, Pascal W...something (can't be bothered to look up his name sorry)

Ouch that sounds painful. Not so sure he will be recovered in time for next weekend.

If Williams don't give Suzy a shot there will be uproar. They have been quite happy to let her get on with all the PR and training pics on FB and Instagram etc. But then when it comes down to it - sorry not quite up to a race seat. Hmmm

Still she's a better peddler than Carmen Jorda... Whos appearances on TV were met with wolf whistles from the crowd lol #dontthinkshesbeingtakenseriously

The Americans are hilarious aren't they? You just need to see what happened to Dancia Patrick every time she got in a car to see that!

RedBull backed the wrong horse...and quite frankly have themselves to blame. They should have been driving the development of that engine 18m before it was first used...you know, when they were cruising to a 3rd straight championship and lining up a 4th.

The breakdown between Renault and RB has only taken a season, after 4 years of dominance. It's kinda pathetic. They've had a year to collectively get this sorted, Ferrari have improved their PU no end. A Ferrari powered RB would probably be a challenger to the Merc dominance.

Williams, Lotus and FIF1 need to think again based on Oz. They were too far off the pace with equal PU hardware. I don't subscribe to Merc giving lesser quality units to the customer teams, its actually not in their interests. The software could be the limitation, but I think Merc are quietly enjoying delivering an A grade platform to Williams etc and then destroying them on track using a better car (and arguably driver).

F1 does find itself, again, in a costly and kinda pathetic situation where one team is being brilliant and the others erm, less so. It needs less restrictive rules to get companies interested but limited resources to reduce costs and stop 1 team out spending another. Without the FIA actually paying the bills as a proxy that will never happen.

So, unrelentingly, roll on Mercedes you've earned it. Williams must beat Ferrari from here on. And close the gap on their PU supplier...

They need to go back to basics:

Max downforce limit at 150mph of xxx kg

Max fuel capacity of a car of xxx litres.

1 fuel stop, minimum.

No mandate on engines. Whatever works. Multiple tyre manufacturers and each engine supplier must supply at least 3 teams.

Wont work as your ferrari's and Mercs will throw money at what they can develop left right and centre and you will have the same effect as now, the biggest teams with the biggest budgets at the front.

It needs what Alex said, the FIA to take control of the purse strings so they can control and publish what every team spends on development.
