Guest David_Baker
Hello everyone. I should start this by saying I am a Jeep person and am not used to fast Japanese vehicles! OK. Background, brother in law just lent me a 1994 MIV non turbo auto to drive for a while til I get a second car as my wife uses our Jeep for her daily drive and lost my job/ company car. Picked this up this after noon from my Niece's place approx 200km from home. On the drive home was running fine then had to merge and put my foot down to get in front of traffic and the big red ! in the tacho lights up along with the MIL and a flashing O/D lamp. Not sure what the O/D lamp meant I hit the OD button and turned off over drive only to not be able to turn it back on. Light would go out (still flashing) but OD would no longer engage. Also noticed that pushing the Manual button no longer did anything (no Manu light on dash). After about 10mins I pulled off the highway and shut it off for a few minutes. Restarted and took off with no lights for about 20 seconds then they all came back and still no OD working. Pulled over again about 5 minutes later and restarted again and this time no warning light and after abiut 5 min OD started working again, but the MIL and ! then came back on for the next remaining 100km or so home. So, all seems to be working again but where do I start looking? Have been reading how to read out codes so will start with that in the morning (my other vehicle is 2010 so is OBDII and I have a code reader for that). Any other suggestions? Also will be doing oil and filter change cause god only knows when that was last done... Thanks for reading, Dave. CanisLupus
Read out the codes first. I assume you will be getting the Speed Sensor Fault code. Will be a bad Connection from the ODO to ECU or Failed Speed Cut Defender
