Tsia
So, just before I hit the buy button on something, for a power goal of 550-600 (hopefully towards 600), who would go for a Whifbitz manifold and who would go for a log style? Littler
I'd go log, I've got an Arnout cast manifold to fit on my setup but a part of it is personal preference.
98HT
Without a doubt log style. Cost, strength and easily supports your powergoals.

It's just finding one that's difficult - can't seem to find a UK supplier for log manifolds anywhere :|
JamieP
I don't think you would go wrong with either way, if you go cast buy a decent one though. I would go Whifbitz/SRD manifold, they have never been known to crack to date. I read people say the cast manifold cars don't sound good, I've no experience of that though, just going by what i read on the forums. Nic
It's just finding one that's difficult - can't seem to find a UK supplier for log manifolds anywhere :| A tubular manifold would allow for further performance increases later on if you wanted to fit a bigger turbo say, you would also have the support of a UK supplier. On the flip side a cast manifold should be the stronger option and at your power goals may give a slight edge in response, although I doubt you would notice any difference. Personally I'd go with a cast manifold if I was doing it again, I'd probably go with a kit from either Powerhouse Racing or Sound Performance. Note if you do go with a kit from the states, make sure you specify it to fit a RHD Supra (PHR seem to do this not sure about SP) as there can be clearance issues with the RHD steering column. Rob W
Tubular manifolds do sound better, wheny old man changed from his cast log mani to the tubular their was a very noticeable difference in sound. He was runing a cast mani with a T61 back in the day when there was only a handful of singles on the board. The spool was crazy, he still says that it spooled better on the cast them his Boostlogic tubular that's fitted now. For what your looking for IMO get a cast mani and small size turbo, PT6262 or 60mm BW.
pedrosixfour
Whifbitz does a log style manifold for the 2JZ-GE but he said a similar unit for the GTE was a no extra cost option. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?302109-New-product-Whifbitz-2JZ-GE-Log-Style-T4-Manifold
Chris Bailey
Powerhouse racing kit comes with a 6266 and a cast manifold. Have you looked at that option?
Tsia
Investigating the SRD manifolds at the minute, although I'm swaying towards tubular, I do love a good engine note.

Chris Wilson
Investigating the SRD manifolds at the minute, although I'm swaying towards tubular, I do love a good engine note. Aty the exhaust outlet theirs no difference in sound between a cast or tubular manifold.

I'm just after the manifold I'm afraid Aty the exhaust outlet theirs no difference in sound between a cast or tubular manifold. So at what point would there be a difference in sound? :S
gordy.r
Smaller can be "bigger" IMHO. That's what I keep telling the wife!
Tsia
I'm assuming the S362 should be a T4 1.0AR twin scroll for the 550-600 power goal?
Chris Bailey
I'm assuming the S362 should be a T4 1.0AR twin scroll for the 550-600 power goal? That will be fine, 1.0 A/R housing will give you nice power throughout the hole rev range and still hold power till the redline.
JamieP
Remember, if its divided then its a lot more restrictive than undivided, so you normally go slightly bigger, for 600bhp id say thats a bit small.

I think the only option larger would be the T4 Twin Scroll 1.10AR - I take it that'd be the ticket then? Cheers for the help
Mk4Gaz
Mine is the 1.0ar, and i dont think it'll struggle to make 600bhp! It depends if you're meaning whp or fwhp, but either way, it'll get there no problem
JamieP
1.00 will be ok, I've got a 1.00ar on my 6266 but i wish I went 1.15. On a stock engine and 1.8 bar, pump fuel I made 580bhp. I think that would would have done 600 with the bigger housing. Edited January 21, 2015 by JamieP (see edit history)
