Mk4Gaz
Mine made 455bhp at the wheels, at 1.1bar - but I don't know what the fw figure would be
JamieP
Divide by .85 iirc
Mk4Gaz
Sounds about right. I read 0.85 for manuals and 0.8 for auto
Gpro
? I have seen supras make 850hp on a 6766 with .84 housing and pump fuel? Edited January 21, 2015 by Gpro (see edit history)
Gpro
.81 and .96 housings producing over 1000whp

JamieP
? I have seen supras make 850hp on a 6766 with .84 housing? That's a bigger turbo, we are talking about 62mm and pump fuel
Gpro
@2.5 bar Better not stand near that BOV That's a bigger turbo, we are talking about 62mm and pump fuel Fair enough Edited January 21, 2015 by Gpro (see edit history)
Luxluc
I would stay with a moderate AR on a 3.0 engine (maximum 1.00). From what I read on SF, bigger AR's (like 1.10, 1.15 or more) should only be used on stroked engines (3.4).
JamieP
Even on divided housings? if so that surprises me.
Luxluc
That's what Reid from SP explained on SF. I haven't seen comparative tests on the divided housings though. SP started with the open housings.
JamieP
On open housings I'd agree 1.00 max
Lee P
We always you the 1.00AR divided on pretty much all the precision turbos
Luxluc
We always you the 1.00AR divided on pretty much all the precision turbos After a chat with Ryan when I was putting together my current setup, he advised me against the 1.15 AR I was initially thinking about. The tests SP did in the US on a built 3.0 showed better result on the 0.84 AR that the 0.96 (open housing). I haven't seen the dyno sheets of the divided housings yet, but I suppose the 1.00 would be the max to use on a 3.0.
Phlukey
I've gone with a 1.00AR divided housing for my 6870 (for built 3.0l) on Lee's and Reid's recommendation.

Krister
I'd go tubular just because of the better sounding exhaust note. Also with a tubular manifold you can get it true divided setup. Log manifolds are open.

Log manifolds are open. +1 Plus, tubular manifolds are better for pump fuel ; with cast manifolds, EGT's will go a lot higher at higher boost levels compared to tubular manifolds. Cast manifold are ok at high boost if you run ethanol. Edited January 22, 2015 by Luxluc (see edit history)
Tsia
I've got the opportunity to purchase an Arnout at the minute, so I'm just waiting to hear back from a few people before settling on the manifold.

I have gone with the .84 so would be interesting to compare the spool and power difference at same boost levels. Did you get the SP or HP housing? Tsia
Well, the turbo arrived and despite ordering twin scroll, it seems I've got an open housing (AFAIK twin scroll always = divided housing) - any benefits to having an open housing, or should I send it back? :/
Tsia
Already sent them a message to say I'm sending it back - looks like I got the .88AR Open instead of my 1.0AR divided! Grr.
