Respray or not?

Judging by the description and spec you've given you're probably looking around the £5-6k mark if you're selling it. Unless the paintwork is really bad and would hinder a sale, the respray likely won't increase the value. Basically you won't get the cost of the respray back, it'll still sell for £5-6k. He'd be very lucky to get £7k for it unless everything else is immaculate I think.

Pics of the bonnet and roof would help here I think.

If it is just the roof and bonnet that is a lot of money for the paintwork. Personally I would not paint it if I was selling, I would just get a mobile bodywork guy out to polish the car up and make it look the best it can. Might cost you a couple of hundred quid, but you will probably see that back in the sale if the car looks that little bit nicer.

Pics would be good though as it all depends how bad it is. I would shop around for a better quote on the paint regardless if its just the 2 panels+blending.

I would see what offers he gets as is, with the thought of adjusting the price for the new owner to have the paint done should he so wish. I wouldn't pay £1400 for a roof and bonnet paint, myself, not on a Supra. Let someone else have the hassle of dealing with body shops, in my trade experience they can be a nightmare.

Without looking at the car to see how bad the paint work is none of can really say... Also what kind of job are you getting for the price you been qouted ? have you seen there work before ?

Should not look at price really more there workmanship though i can understand you wanting to do it cheap as your selling the car

If your saying you could get another 2k by getting it repainted which will cost £1500 .. is the £500 profit really worth it ? Thats of course if you get your asking price

Just sell it as it is IMO,
